Description:
Young Environmentalists Programme Trust organized an Essay writing competition on the topic Wetlands action for People and Nature on 30th January 2022. Students from Std. 6-12 got the opportunity to take part in this event. Aishana from Std. 11E secured the first position.
This essay writing helped the students in exploring and understanding the importance of wetlands and mangroves in numerous aspects such as the natural significance, protection from disasters, cultural significance, etc. We were very happy to take part in this event and expressed their desire to get more such opportunities.
Followed by the essay writing competition a webinar was also conducted on 2nd February, 2022. It was headed by Elsie Gabriel, Founder of Young Environmentalists Programme Trust and Ambassador for India Ocean Quest. Eminent speakers, environmentalists and young activists graced the occasion. The webinar also included several presentations which threw light on the present situation of our precious natural resource - The Wetlands and Mangroves. The presentations didn’t only talk about the depletion of mangroves and their devastating consequences on the coastal regions but also offered few solutions for these problems and even more essentially displayed the actions taken towards restoring Wetlands and Mangroves in various parts of India.
This webinar was really an eye opening towards our duty for our planet. It inspired everyone to do their own part for saving our Earth.
